Yet another trojan

There is a trojan horse program making the rounds, currently under the name of deaztec1.6_final.exe. Do not download/open it if you wish to keep your QuakeNet username and password secure. If you have opened it you should change your Q password, uninstall mIRC, run a virus checker and then reinstall mIRC.

As always, only accept programs from people you know, and double check that they sent you the file, not an imposter or someone controlling their IRC client

I think it\'s pathetic that script kiddies take time to create viruses for the sole purpose of taking over a channel in IRC. Viruses are by nature pathetic things, but I find it especially stupid it\'s over something so petty. In conclusion, never EVER EVER open any .EXE, .PIF, .SCR, .BAT, .COM etc file which you are even the smallest bit unsure about.

It\'s a shame that the same recipe works every time better (ie an appealing file to get, such as a patch, a map or a cheat)... People should learnto be doubtful. It could be good to have some broadcasted information on the network about such worms so that people that usually know nothing about them could be aware of their existence.

really what you should do if even a best friend you know sends you anything like a .exe/.zip you should create a new folder, place it in there and then run a virus scanner on it and be sure it is say before you open the file and run it. *sigh* why bother taking over channels, thats pointless imo, what do you get out of it, a g-line OOO ! Why don\'t these people grow up and do something better with their computing skills. :l
