Q Account Expiration Change

Posted by Kryt on Sunday 24 March 2013

Hello!

QuakeNet have been listening to our users regarding the length of time it takes for Q accounts to expire (and therefore be permanently deleted). Until now, this has been set at 80 days. Many of our users felt this was too short, and as a result this has now been increased with immediate effect to 180 days.

If you have any questions regarding this change please do not hesitate to contact us on #Help and we'll be glad to assist.

180 is too long, why not making a vacation mode, for people who will be away for some time

People would leave their account permanently in vacation mode or other accidental slip-ups. Half a year of idleness to wait for an account to be permanently deleted along with all access flags is perfectly fine. The 80 day limit was a little harsh and a 'holiday' mode would be overly complex or abused.

Why don't you send an e-mail when the account is about to expire? I've had my old account removed without any notice.
