Upcoming QuakeNet updates on Wednesday

Posted by Vekotin on Sunday 13 May 2001

QuakeNet will be upgrading to a new software version starting at 06.00 CET on Wednesday morning, May 16th. When the upgrade process begins, all users can prepare for server downtimes and servers will not be able to link to QuakeNet before they have been upgraded. To help users, we have modified the server page to reflect the upgrade status during the day. Please check the status of your favorite server before connecting, and if required, connect to an alternate server.

The new version is designed to minimize chances for network abuse, and will also improve effectiveness of server linking, which will hopefully result in fewer netsplits. From a user's perspective, all basic functionality will remain unchanged, including all Q functions.
